Handbuilding and Wheel Throwing Course

Service Description

In this 6 week course you will learn the fundamentals of both handbuilding and wheel throwing including pinch potting, coil building, slab building, wheel throwing, turning, and glazing. PRICING At Neighbourhood, we use a solidarity pricing system in order to promote equity and diversity and increase access to pottery as a craft. At checkout, you will have the choice of 3 prices for this course. Please choose either "Low Income" for £150, "Standard" for £175, or "Pay it Forward" for £200 based on your personal circumstances. SCHEDULE Week 1: Pinch potting + Coil Building Week 2: Slab building Week 3: Wheel throwing Week 4: Turning Week 5: Glazing Week 6: Glazing FINISHED WORK At the end of each of the first 4 sessions, you will get to choose up to 2 pieces which you would like to have fired. In the final 2 weeks, you will glaze the pieces you chose to fire. Pieces will be ready for collection after their final firing a few weeks after the course ends. WHAT TO WEAR Clay and glaze both rinse out of clothes very easily, but wear something you don't mind getting a bit messy in. Also, please bring an apron if you have one. If not, we have spare ones you can use. NOTE: Participants must be 18 or over.
